When performing a “Detailed” foundation design, the platform determines optimal steel driven pile sizes in accordance with acceptable methods of practice. Axial (soil uplift and compression) and Lateral (soil-structure interaction) checks are performed. In addition, pile strength and deflection checks are performed in accordance with industry standards and building code requirements. The lateral design meets the provisions of the 2010 AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. It should be noted that final design of pile foundations shall be verified utilizing advanced nonlinear analysis using commercial geotechnical design software such as LPile. HST’s licensed professional engineers can assist with these additional services.   

The geotechnical inputs are typically obtained from a project-specific geotechnical study. Pile design parameters shall have been established based upon pull test results.
